How did you get started in radio?

I was always fascinated with radio even as a kid.  I think I even still have a tape of me from high school where I was pretending to be a DJ with my little Radio Shack tape recorder.  I even played the end of a song, came out of it with usual DJ chatter, and then interviewed my dog (Kim, God rest her little beagle soul)!

Tell us about your kids:

My kids are awesome - I've got Bethany, Kailey and Joshua and they are each so unique - it's amazing how God can take looks, personalities, talents and characteristics from each parent and mix and match them with the kids.  Bethany looks more like my side of the family, got Kathy's personality, and my study habits (poor girl!).  Kailey looks more like Kathy, has a mix of our personalities, Kathy's study habits, and my ability to mimic sounds and voices.  Then Joshua looks like Kathy, has my personality and is passionate about chocolate milk!! (I'm not sure who he got that from...)

What is something that most people are surprised to find out about you?

I love hanging out with teenagers!  I started teaching 11th grade guys Sunday School this year, and before that I took a group of guys through 6th, 7th and 8th grade.  Most people would think I'm crazy, but I love it!  It helps keep me young, even though they make me feel old!

What was your most embarrassing moment in high school?

Probably the fact that I got an 18 (out of 100) on my English research paper my sophomore year.  I was always a procrastinator when it came to school work, and at that time, I was more interested in hanging out with my friends than doing research papers.  Thankfully, by the grace of God, I still passed the class!

If you could trade places with anyone, who would it be?

Nobody really - I like my life.  Now, there are times when I wish I could trade voices with people - I'm fascinated with different voices and accents.  And I'd love to be able to sing like Josh Groban.

Who are some of your favorite Fish artists?

I like a variety of folks.  In the CD collection in my car you'll find Jeremy Camp, Toby Mac, Chris Tomlin (a fellow Texan), Casting Crowns, Third Day, Mark Schultz, Michael W. Smith... just to name a few.

Other fun Dan facts:

I enjoy hanging out with our church youth group, I enjoy karate (taekwondo) - I earned my black belt last year, I like to play racquetball - and most importantly spend time with my family and friends.
